Thad Beaumont (Timothy Hutton) is a happily married family man with a successfully two-faced career as a writer. On the one hand, he publishes respected but poorly-selling scholarly works under his own name. It is under the name George Stark, however, that he sells millions of books with his signature strain of extremely violent action novels. When Thad makes the decision to write only under his own name, he stages a PR-friendly burial for his pen name which receives prominent media coverage. After this event, it's not long before townspeople somehow connected to Thad start turning up dead, with all clues pointing to the unassuming author. Is there a second party trying to frame Thad? Could the murders be somehow connected to the fragments of a undeveloped twin removed from Thad's brain when he was a boy? When the sheriff (Michael Rooker) finds Thad's fingerprints at the crime scenes, the unsuspecting author's life spins increasingly out of control. Director George Romero adapts frequent collaborator Stephen King's 1989 best-seller into a tight mainstream thriller with a fine dual performance from Hutton.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseFull Frame - 1.33Audio: Dolby Surround - EnglishAdditional Release Material: Trailers - 1. David Lynch strikes again with this literal nightmare of a motion picture--a brilliant, scathing, hysterical, and haunting ode to Hollywood. In the film, a mysterious dark-haired woman (Laura Elena Harring) emerges from an accident with a purse full of cash and a head full of amnesia. Meanwhile, Betty Elms (Naomi Watts), a wide-eyed gal from Deep River, Ontario, has just landed in Los Angeles with dreams of movie super stardom. When Betty finds the nameless beauty in her aunt's apartment, she is deeply intrigued by the situation and offers to help her. This sends the two women on a bizarre search for the truth through the macabre, sun-soaked streets of the City of Angels, where the mob, a young film director (Justin Theroux), a studio executive with a tiny head, and an enigmatic figure named the Cowboy all float into the picture, then out again, until there is no longer any distinction between what is dream and what is reality.Originally filmed as a pilot for ABC, Lynch's daring, open-ended vision was coldly rejected by the network. As he was about to abandon the project, French producer Pierre Edelman convinced Lynch to rethink it as a feature. The result is this stunning expression of the subconscious, a testament to the power of personal artistic vision.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseAnamorphic Widescreen - 1.85:1Audio: DTS Surround 5.1 - English Dolby Digital 5.1 - EnglishAdditional Release Material: TrailersInteractive Features: Scene Access Interactive MenusText/Photo Galleries: Production Notes Biographies Additional Text - 1.
